Steven J. Stryker, M.D.

Dr. Stryker has devoted his entire career to the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. His medical degree is from Northwestern University and his surgical internship and residency were at Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago. After additional training in gastrointestinal surgery at St. Mark's Hospital in London and the Mayo Clinic, he returned to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in 1985. Dr. Stryker is Professor of Clinical Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is double board certified by the American Board of Surgery as well as the specialty board for gastrointestinal surgery. He is a member of numerous medical organizations. Dr. Stryker is widely recognized as an expert in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and has extensively published on these subjects. He is proud to have recently opened the Digestique clinic, exclusively for the diagnosis and management of chronic digestive disorders in women.

Steve Styker

Paige Funk, RN, BSN, CGRN

Paige is from Morris, IL, a small town 60 miles SW of Chicago. She attended Saint Mary’s of Notre Dame College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She began her nursing career at the Mayo Clinic Hospitals in Rochester, MN, spent time as a traveling nurse, and ultimately moved back to Illinois, settling in Chicago. Prior to joining the staff at Digestique, Paige worked in the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. During her tenure at Northwestern Memorial, Paige passed the Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses Association (SGNA) exam to become a Certified Gastroenterology Nurse.

Alisa Kirsche, MS, RD, LDN, CNSD

Alisa is from Skokie, IL a northern suburb. She attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics. After completing her dietetic internship at Eastern Illinois University, Alisa earned a Masters Degree in nutritional education. She has worked for several years in the Department of Clinical Nutrition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Having earned additional certification in Nutritional Support, currently maintains a position as an Advanced Practice Dietitian at Northwestern while working part-time at Digestique. Among her many professional commitments, Alisa also writes a nutrition newsletter for her family’s grocery business.

Jennifer Almanza, BA

Jennifer grew up in Joliet, IL. She attended University of Illinois at Chicago, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Political Science, specializing in Public Administration. She has worked as office assistant and, more recently, as administrative assistant for medical practices in Chicago and its suburbs. Jennifer is the Administrative Assistant for Digestique while also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Elmhurst College.
